We have some great FREE events coming up and we'd love for you to join us. These will be conversations about the heart, craft and business of writing.
Join James Tate Hill and his agent and fellow author Eric Smith on August 3rd for a publication-day discussion of his debut memoir, Blind Man’s Bluff (W. W. Norton). In addition to the book’s themes of disability and self-acceptance, the two will talk candidly about the writing process, the road to publication, and the author-agent relationship. This event will conclude with an audience Q&A. RSVP here.
Writing Through Madness with Claire Phillips and Bruce Bauman, July 12th
Authors Bruce Bauman and Claire Phillips, who have each taught creative writing for over fifteen years, will read from recent works of fiction and non-fiction and discuss the writing process as it pertains to mental health - your own and your characters who might also be members of your own family or fictional creations. Phillips will discuss her struggles of growing up with and then writing about her mentally ill mother. Bauman will explore how he created a mentally ill narrator, as well as how other narrators in his multi-narrator novel see this character. Together, Phillips and Bauman will discuss how one delves deeply into oneself and those around them to create compelling works. This event will conclude with an audience Q&A. RSVP here.
The Big Texas Read Online Reading Series, July 21st
We're reading and discussing Cliff Hudder's novel from Texas Review Press, Pretty Enough for You. This program will be moderated by Tony Diaz and will conclude with an audience Q&A. RSVP here.
