Can Publishing in Literary Journals Launch Your Career?
You might've heard the advice to aim for 100 rejections in a year. In On Writing, Stephen King writes about racking up early rejection slips en route to publication. There are more ways than ever to get your work read thanks to an incredibly healthy ecosystem of online and print literary journals.
But you can launch a career by publishing one piece at a time, sometimes in out of the way lit journals?
Our Zoom seminar on Sunday September 19th, 2021 is titled Publishing in Literary Journals to Launch Your Career, and our Executive Director Blake Kimzey wants to walk you through his journey to publication.
They say in order to be universal one must be specific, so Blake will share receipts from his 10+ years of sending work to literary journals, overcoming 900+ rejections, and eventually landing a literary agent after receiving 10 emails from agents inquiring about his work (screen shots abound!).

Blake will show participants the importance of perseverance, being findable, and participating in the literary community beyond their own work. Blake screen captures his entire journey, shares best practices, and will hopefully inspire you along the way.

You'll walk away from this seminar inspired to set manageable and reachable goals along with meaningful strategies to get your work out into the world. Join us! Space is limited, and you can sign up right here.
