Begins Monday, November 16, 2020

Led by Award-winning children's author Rosie J. Pova! Her books include If I Weren't With You (SPORK, an imprint of Clear Fork Publishing, 2017), Hailey Queen Pranking Makes Perfect: The Alien Encounter (SPORK, 2017) and Sarah's Song (SPORK, Fall 2017). Rosie's upcoming picture book, Sunday Rain, will be released in March 2021.

Now that we've covered the basics in our 8-week course, WRITING PICTURE BOOKS: FROM CREATION TO PUBLICATION, we will expand upon the work and build upon the foundation we laid.

When writing picture books, creating a body of work is crucial. But what's also very important is that each story is strong and polished so that if one attracts an agent's or editor's interest and they ask for more work, you have additional manuscripts to show.

In addition, you should never rely on just one manuscript to help you advance your writing career, so getting into the habit of creating story after story that is marketable, strong, and polished is a must.

This 4-week course will further sharpen your skills as a children's writer so you can hone your craft and advance your knowledge of the craft and business of picture book writing.

This class is entirely asynchronous with weekly deadlines and there is plenty of interaction with Rosie and your peers within Wet Ink, our dedicated online classroom. Craft materials, lectures, reading assignments, and writing prompts are all available through the online classroom. Students also post work and provide and receive feedback within the online classroom environment. You can get the work done as you see fit week-to-week, so it is perfect for any schedule. There are discussion questions each week inspired by the assigned readings and topics in the lecture notes. Students are encouraged to take these wherever is most compelling and/or useful for them. Rosie engages with these discussions throughout the week.
