Join London-based 2020 Lawrence Olivier Award nominated writer, actor and producer Taz Skylar for his free seminar on October 9th, 2020.

Taz's last play, WARHEADS, got him the Olivier nomination and has been sold to Ascendant Films and is being developed into a feature film with Taz as a writer/actor.

In this seminar, we'll go through the core elements of story selection and how to choose the one that suits you as a writer and go beyond stories you simply might like the idea of. You'll learn how to start finding the right angle for each story and decide which medium suits the story best. If it’s a TV show, why is it a TV show? If it’s a play, why is it a play? What would make you decide to write it as a film as opposed to a series?

We’ll also touch upon:

  • Why some of the greatest writers of our time are so well versed in different mediums.

  • What the word ‘’Playwright’’ actually means versus the word ‘’Screenwriter’’.

  • Why the importance of being well versed in all mediums will benefit you even if you only want to write for one medium: why reading novels is good if you want to be a Screenwriter...why reading plays is great if you want to be a TV writer...and why watching more films can still be good, even if you want to be playwright.

  • What makes stories interesting and watchable.

  • Best ways to develop and work on your craft as a writer, from the ground up.

  • How to go about getting your projects made.

  • The importance of structuring your time and self-setting deadlines to achieve your writing goals.

This seminar is fully online and meets via Zoom.
