Taught by Nancy Sharp, winner of the Colorado Book Award for Creative Nonfiction for her debut memoir Both Sides Now: A True Story of Love, Loss, and Bold Living. Her work has been published in The New York Times, AARP’s The Ethel, Katie Couric's Wake-Up Call, Next Avenue, The Huffington Post, and elsewhere.

If you have ever wondered about the complexities of love, you're in for a treat. Together, we will take a deep dive into this most precious human value. In many ways, love defines who we are and how we are in the world, which is essential for storytelling and life.

The themes for this eight-week course include:

  • Your Favorite Love Story
  • Love of Self
  • Reflection & Regrets
  • The Greatest Love
  • Life Lessons

Nancy's Guided Autobiography class will get you thinking about love from multiple lenses and is the perfect springboard for personal reflection as well as publication via essays, a collection, memoir, or other published work.

We'll discuss the assigned reading each week, learn about craft techniques, and hear one another's stories about the given theme.

You'll write two-three pages every other week to share with the group on the assigned theme.

There is no formal editorial critique since this class follows the traditional format of Guided Autobiography, a curriculum used worldwide to help people capture and share meaningful life experiences two pages at a time.

Come reflect, share, build community with other storytellers, and develop essays for yourself, loved ones, or publication. What's Love Got to Do With It? Everything!

COURSE TAKEAWAYS:

  • Improved self-esteem and confidence.
  • Deeper empathy for others.
  • A greater understanding of where you are and where you want to go in your life.
  • Pages of your life story - a treasured keepsake.
  • Content that can find its way into a book or other published work.

By the end of the class, you will have the tools you need for the next step in your writing process.
