STUDENTS LOVE TINA
“Tina is a truly exceptional teacher always ready to offer feedback, facilitate discussions, and give informative ‘craft talks’ on various literary/writing devices. She provides both constructive and positive criticism, listening carefully and attentively to your piece, with many insights to share with you on what she thinks works well and what might need some reworking. This insight has caused me as a writer to not only feel more positive and confident about myself, but has opened my eyes to the little nuances and details that give the piece its distinctive uniqueness. Coming into class with Tina on Saturday is truly one of the highlights of my day, and I always leave with a smile on my face after hearing what she thinks about my piece for that week.”—Saumya Sawant, student
“Tina has a disarming demeanor that allows for self-conscious writers to open up. I have seen writers cry in her class as they read their pieces. I have also seen laughter and bonding that only come from a teacher that cares. She has a keen eye when reading, thus, giving suggestions to improve one’s writing that is catered to your style and genre. I cannot recommend her enough!”—Abeer Kashmeeri, student
“I have come to know Tina over the past few years as a dedicated and innovative teacher, as well as a talented writer and generous colleague. She has the perfect combination of a kind heart and a keen eye. Her students come away with both inspiration and tools to succeed in their creative writing endeavors.”—Nora Raleigh Baskin (award-winning author of 15 novels for young adults)
"Tina Tocco is an exceptional teacher and colleague. She holds herself to a high standard and goes to great lengths to bring both substantial content to her students as well as provide insightful, encouraging guidance. She brings her extensive knowledge of the writing craft to her classes and is able to adapt her teaching to all levels. As her co-teacher, I was impressed with her thorough preparation and willingness to dive into new territory with our video series. Her students use one word to describe her: fabulous."—Nancy McMillan, Director of Writing and Literature Programs, Arts Escape, Southbury, CT
