Led by Jennifer Epperson, a freelance writer who has written personal essays and reporting pieces for Texas Monthly, Elle.com, DAME, Man Repeller, The Outline, and Lenny Letter.

We all have stories to tell, but the act of writing these stories can be daunting. This six week workshop will help you build confidence in the significance of your story and in your ability to tell it through personal essay and/or memoir.

In addition to learning (or re-learning) the mechanics of writing such as structure, voice, and dialogue, you’ll also learn how to silence the inner critic/editor that stands between you and getting your story onto the page.

Perhaps most valuable to growing as a writer, every student in this workshop will have the opportunity to submit their own writing for instructor and peer feedback.

In this generative 6-week workshop you can expect the following in each class:

  • In-class readings and discussion
  • In-class writing exercises
  • Detailed peer and teacher feedback
  • A safe, supportive space to tell your story and grow as a writer

By the end of the course you will have:

  • The tools you need to continue your writing practice
  • Completed drafts for further development, revision, and publication
  • The confidence that your story is meaningful for yourself and other readers

WRITERS LOVE WORKING WITH JENNIFER:

“Jennifer, I think you taught the class SO well. Every single note or bit of feedback you had was positive and constructive and I think that goes such a long way, especially for those of us who are in the beginning stages of our writing process and don't have the confidence or validation from being published to buoy us. Loved this course!”

“This class allowed me to gain more confidence in my writing style and my voice, and it also showed me how others can write differently and achieve similar end goals, but that doesn't mean I have to mimic someone else's voice."

“Thank you Jennifer!! I’d love to take more workshops with you in the future!”
