Workshop alum Jennifer Goldman's essay is published in the new anthology, Dear Migraine, where you can read her piece, "Brain Rest and The Unwelcome Guest."

And: this is Jennifer's first time being officially published in a book, and we want to celebrate this accomplishment with her!

Here is a quick update from Jennifer:

In April, I was one of four featured poets who read their work at the Spring into Poetry event at The Amherst Woman's Club, and I'm thrilled to have my essay "Brain Rest and The Unwelcome Guest" published in this recent anthology.

I enjoy writing poetry, essays, and fictional vignettes, essays. They take readers and writers to new places, invite imagination, and cultivate curiosity, often creating the space for laughing along the way. I feel most in flow when coaching other writers on their work. My Master's in Counseling Psychology informs the lyrical lens through which I write, and infuses my work with thought-provoking insight and guidance. I also am passionate about the opportunity to narrate other author's books! You can learn more about my writing, audio work, and coaching here.

I wrote about 80 pages of my novel in progress during NaNoWriMo, and then polished it more during Dana De Greff's Write Your Novel in 6 Weeks class; now, my manuscript is about 80% done, at least a first draft. I've set it aside to let it breathe for awhile.

Right now I'm working as a freelance writer ghostwriting a newsletter for a dating and relationship expert based out of LA. I write five days a week with London Writers' Salon to keep the muse in motion! And, I hope you'll enjoy this soundtrack to my novel in progress, Owen's Empty Nest.

Here are my goals:

One year from now: publish my chapbook of essays and poems.

Five years from now: publish my novel, and some poetry in between, give readings and record audiobooks for my work and the work of other author's. Take more classes to learn more about craft, my appetite for learning is endless!
