Writing Workshops and Electric Literature are giving away six spots this fall, including one full eight-week workshop. Entries close Sunday, September 20.
Most writers we meet already have something started. A folder. A notebook. A document they open, look at, and close again. A workshop is very often the thing that turns that into a finished draft — a deadline, a room, and a working writer who reads your pages closely and tells you the truth about them.
For one week, we're giving six of those seats away.
What six writers win
Every prize is credit toward any online course in our catalog — fiction, nonfiction, poetry, screenwriting, publishing. You choose the class.

Official rules
NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.
1. Sponsor. This giveaway is sponsored and administered solely by Writing Workshops Dallas, LLC, Dallas, Texas ("Writing Workshops"). Electric Literature is a promotional partner only and is not responsible for the administration of this giveaway, the selection of winners, or the fulfillment of prizes.
2. Eligibility. Open to individuals 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. Employees, contractors, and instructors of Writing Workshops and Electric Literature, and their immediate family members and household members, are not eligible. Void where prohibited or restricted by law.
3. Entry period. Entries are accepted from 9:00 AM Eastern Time on September 14, 2026, through 11:59 PM Eastern Time on September 20, 2026. Entries submitted outside this period will not be counted. Writing Workshops' computer is the official timekeeping device.
4. How to enter. Entrants may earn entries by any combination of the following: following @writingworkshops and @electriclit on Instagram; liking the designated giveaway post; tagging another Instagram user in a comment on that post, with each unique tagged user counting as one additional entry; and submitting the entry form on this page, which counts as one additional entry. Comments containing tagged accounts that are fake, inactive, or duplicated may be disqualified at Writing Workshops' sole discretion.
5. Free alternate method of entry. To enter without using Instagram or joining any mailing list, send an email to [email protected] during the entry period with the subject line "Giveaway Entry" and include your full name and email address in the body. One entry per person per day by this method. Entries submitted by this method carry the same chance of winning as entries submitted by any other method.
6. Prizes. Six (6) prizes will be awarded, each in the form of a single-use class credit code redeemable against any online course offered at WritingWorkshops.com: one (1) prize of $545 USD; one (1) prize of $330 USD; and four (4) prizes of $99 USD each. Total approximate retail value of all prizes: $1,271 USD. Credit codes are valid for six (6) months from the date of issue, are not transferable, may not be redeemed for cash, may not be applied to destination retreats, and may not be combined with other offers. Any unused balance is forfeited. Prizes are awarded as-is with no substitution except at Sponsor's discretion.
7. Odds. Odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received.
8. Winner selection and notification. Six winners will be selected at random from all eligible entries on or about September 21, 2026. Winners will be notified by Instagram direct message or by email at the address provided. A winner who does not respond within seven (7) days of notification forfeits the prize, and an alternate winner may be selected at random.
9. Taxes. Winners are solely responsible for any taxes arising from receipt of a prize.
10. Publicity. Except where prohibited by law, acceptance of a prize constitutes permission for Writing Workshops and Electric Literature to use the winner's name and Instagram handle for promotional purposes without further compensation. Winners are under no obligation to provide a testimonial, photograph, or written reflection.
11. Privacy. Information submitted through the entry form is collected by Writing Workshops and handled in accordance with the Writing Workshops privacy policy. Email addresses will be shared with Electric Literature only where the entrant has affirmatively opted in to receive Electric Literature communications. Entrants may unsubscribe from either mailing list at any time.
12. General conditions. Writing Workshops reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who tampers with the entry process, violates these rules, or acts in a manner it deems disruptive or unsportsmanlike. Writing Workshops reserves the right to modify, suspend, or cancel the giveaway if it cannot be conducted as planned. All decisions of the Sponsor are final and binding.
13. Release. By entering, entrants release Writing Workshops Dallas, LLC, Electric Literature, and their respective officers, employees, contractors, and instructors from any liability arising from participation in this giveaway or acceptance or use of a prize.
14. Instagram. This giveaway is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc. Entrants release Instagram and Meta from all liability in connection with this giveaway. Entrants agree to Instagram's terms of use.
15. Governing law. These rules are governed by the laws of the State of Texas without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Dallas County, Texas.
