This course is designed to teach students how to break into online and print magazine writing with a focus on crafting great freelance pitches. It will give student the confidence to approach new editors, pitch bigger publications, and negotiate higher rates for their freelance work.
If you've ever wanted to sell essays and articles to magazines or online publications - or if you've done it but want to pitch and earn more, this course is for you.
In this course you’ll get live weekly calls that cover:
- Generating great pitch ideas and overcoming imposter syndrome.
- The anatomy of a great pitch.
- How to write a letter of introduction.

COURSE OUTLINE:
Week 1: Freelance 101 and How to Generate Pitch Ideas
- Students will learn pitching etiquette, how to generate more pitch ideas, the anatomy of a great freelance pitch, how to find the right editor to pitch, how to negotiate higher rates, and how to stay organized as their freelance workload increases.
- Students will also have the chance to submit a magazine pitch for live in-class feedback from the instructor.
