Alumni Spotlight: Lisa Johnson Mitchell
by Writing Workshops Staff
Today, we're catching up with Lisa Johnson Mitchell. She holds an MFA from Bennington College and her work is forthcoming or has appeared in X-R-A-Y, Fictive Dream, Emerge Literary Journal, The Rivanna Review, and Cleaver, while other works have been honored by Glimmer Train, ScreenCraft, and PEN Women.
Lisa has taken a Novel Mentorship with Samantha Mabry and craft seminars with Steve Adams, Eden Elieff, and Whitney Davis. She says, "I love the supportive community at Writing Workshops. There's nothing like it to survive the rejections and celebrate the successes!"
Lisa has three stories out of 10-ish needed to complete her story collection, "Datemares." She has also finished a novel and finds inspiration in the work of George Saunders and Miranda July. In the coming year she would like to complete her story collection and secure representation for her novel.
We're rooting for you, Lisa! Thank you for letting us be part of your writing journey!
