Congratulations to Paula Lehman-Ewing, who just accepted an offer from North Atlantic Books to publish Reimagining the Revolution: Meaningful Engagement in the Fight for Social Justice in the summer of 2024. Paula attended our 2023 Hawai'i Workshop and we couldn't be more excited for her! Congratulations, Paula! We can't wait to read your new book!

Describe your work (influences, interests, etc.) and what you're working on now.
I am to amplify the voices of the men and women strategizing for a more equitable future and shed light on the blueprints they've created toward that end. My book is about the people I’ve met in the movements for social and racial justice. As the narrator, I offer an access point, a conduit into worlds you may otherwise not be aware of or exposed to. I will be your eyes and ears in the rooms of revolution, but I do not presume to own the messages that emanate from them. The ideas, plans, and theories contained in this volume will be presented through the lens of those most directly impacted by systems of oppression. It is their up-close encounters with these systems that have informed their solutions.

What are your short term (1 year) and long term writing goals (5 years from now)?
In the short term, I plan to publish my first book and my long-term goal is to make being an author a sustainable career path.
What class(es) did you take/are you taking with Writing Workshops?
I attended the Writing Workshops Hawaii 2023 retreat (nonfiction).
What did you enjoy most about your class(es) with Writing Workshops?
Hawaii is where I got to think big about my book, make changes and workshop a compelling book proposal that eventually landed me this deal.
