Today we're catching up with Melody Rose Serra. Her passion is teaching and empowering others by sharing what she has learned. Melody helped launch an arts and crafts program at a children's hospital and also taught at San Quentin State Prison. Melody hopes to inspire youth to explore and expand their creativity through web development, writing, and art.
We're celebrating the publication of her piece "They Say Jesus Walked on Water" in West Trestle Review.
Melody took two humor writing courses led by Carlos Greaves. She says, "I am inspired by poets like Ananda Lima and Tracy K. Smith. I am continuing to write poetry and am focusing on visual poetry right now. I loved how supportive Carlos was even after the class. He sent us resources and when my work got published for the first time I let him know, he promptly responded with encouragement to keep writing."
We're rooting for you, Melody! Thank you for letting us be part of your writing journey!
