Instructor Lynne Golodner is the author of 13 books and thousands of articles, and a marketing entrepreneur, writing coach, and host of the Make Meaning Podcast. After working as a journalist in New York and Washington, D.C., Lynne returned to Detroit. She helps authors create writing careers, book marketing strategies and finish book projects. In 2023, Lynne founded Scotia Road Books, an independent publishing imprint for women over 40. Lynne's writing has appeared in 45th Parallel, Moment Magazine, Great Lakes Review, Saveur, the Chicago Tribune, Better Homes and Gardens, Midwest Living, the Detroit Free Press, Porridge Magazine, the Jewish Literary Journal, The Good Life Review, Hadassah Magazine, The Forward, Valiant Scribe, Story Unlikely, The Dillydoun Review, QuibbleLit, bioStories and YourTango, among many more publications. Who is this class for?

This online writing class is for aspiring novelists and authors who are older and worried that it's too late to write a book that gets published. Open to writers at all levels, it welcomes fiction writers, nonfiction writers, and poets who are ready to take their book project seriously, whatever their age.

What to expect:

Between 1955 and 2004, the average age of authors topping the New York Times bestseller list was 50.5. And while the average age of a debut novelist is in the 30s, many authors did not write or publish a first book until well past the mid-century mark!

We'll cover publishing paths, realistic timelines, what it's like to query young-ish agents when you're on the verge of old-ish, and we'll even explore why you may be better positioned to succeed as an author after a successful career in something else.

This live Zoom writing class is a practical, encouraging look at the publishing landscape for writers starting their author careers later in life.
