Led by Katie Reilly, a freelance journalist and attorney based in the Bay Area in California. Katie's writing generally focuses on women's health, mental health and parenting. Her articles have appeared in The New York Times Magazine, The Washington Post, The Guardian, Elle Magazine, The Boston Globe, Newsweek, USA Today and HuffPost, among other publications.

Getting published is a challenging process for writers. It’s hard to determine where your story would be a good fit and there is often minimal guidance online. It can feel like there is a great divide between you and the editors that you hope to work with.

In this two-hour publishing panel, led by journalist Katie Reilly, we’re hoping to change that dynamic. In two separate forty-minute sessions, we’ll hear from two editors from Pigeon Pages, Electric Lit, Narratively and Brevity. There will also be a ten-minute break at the end of the hour and a brief recap after each editor panel.

We are very lucky that Alisson Wood, Founder and editor-in-chief at Pigeon Pages and author of Being Lolita; Katie Robinson, Associate editor of creative nonfiction at Electric Literature; Jesse Sposato, executive editor at Narratively, and Zoë Bossiere, managing editor at Brevity and author of Cactus Country: A Boyhood Memoir are scheduled to join us.

The editors will talk about the types of stories they’re looking for, what should be included in your cover letter and what makes a story stand out to them. We’ll also learn more about their writing process and insight into the literary magazine landscape. I’ll lead the panels with questions, but students are welcome to ask questions as well.

Can't Make It Live?
