Instructor Courtney Kocak is a writer, podcaster, and comedian based in Los Angeles. She wrote for Amazon’s Emmy-winning animated series Danger & Eggs and Netflix’s Know It All podcast. She’s produced a slew of highly-ranked podcasts—including The Bellas Podcast, which debuted at #1 on Apple Podcasts, PayPal’s Never Stand Still, and Girlboss Radio—and currently hosts three of her own with over two million downloads to date: Private Parts Unknown, about love and sexuality around the world, The Bleeders, about book writing and publishing, and Podcast Bestie, a best friend to podcasters trying to grow and monetize their shows (and a popular Substack). As a writer, her bylines include The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, Cosmopolitan, BUST, Bustle, InsideHook, and more. She’s currently working on a coming-of-age memoir in essays.

Daily Zoom Sessions: Dive into a one-hour Zoom session every day, where you'll receive inspiration, assignments, and dedicated writing time. Students will be polled and the schedule based on their availability with some variation to serve different preferences. Zooms will be recorded for anyone unable to attend live.

Daily Prompts & Publication Targets: Get ready to unleash your creativity with a daily prompt and a specific publication target to aim for.

Real-Life Examples: Learn from real-life success stories throughout the month. Discover what strategies have worked for Courtney and others and how you can apply them to your own writing journey. 

Q&A Opportunities: Have burning questions about the writing process, pitching, or finding the right publications? Get answers on the spot with our daily Q&A sessions.

Personalized Feedback: Receive personalized feedback from Courtney on four assignments—two pitches, one flash essay, and an essay—tailored to help you refine your writing and increase your chances of acceptance.

Classmate Feedback Swaps: For additional feedback, there will be an opportunity to engage in weekly feedback swaps with your peers so you can exchange insights, offer constructive criticism, and support each other on your paths to success.
