Instructor Courtney Kocak is a writer, podcaster, and comedian who splits time between Austin and Los Angeles. She wrote for Amazon’s Emmy-winning animated series Danger & Eggs and Netflix’s Know It All. She’s produced a slew of highly-ranked podcasts—including The Bellas Podcast, which debuted at #1 on Apple Podcasts, PayPal’s Never Stand Still, and Girlboss Radio—and currently hosts three of her own with over two million downloads to date: Private Parts Unknown, about love and sexuality around the world, The Bleeders, about book writing and publishing, and Podcast Bestie, a best friend to podcasters trying to grow and monetize their shows (and a popular Substack). This course is designed for creative nonfiction writers seeking to elevate their work to the next level. Open to all experience levels, it’s designed to help you see your writing with fresh eyes and sharpen every element on the page.

Bring up to three essays or your memoir manuscript-in-progress. Girl Gone Wild author Courtney Kocak will lead a focused, hands-on revision session drawing on lessons she learned while revising her debut memoir.

Through guided exercises, you’ll refine your structure, deepen your context, strengthen your dialogue, heighten emotional resonance, and polish everything from sentence rhythm to grammar.

You’ll work directly on your own essays or manuscript pages, learning strategies to fully realize and refine your work, with opportunities to ask questions along the way. By the end of class, you’ll walk away with a clear revision roadmap and practical techniques to keep elevating your creative nonfiction on your own long after the class ends.

Whether you’re polishing a single essay for submission, preparing multiple pieces for publication, or pushing your memoir draft toward the finish line, this intensive will help you unlock the full potential of your writing.

If you can't attend this class live, it will be recorded! Students will receive a recording on the Monday after the class, which will be available for 60 days.
