Led by Jennifer Epperson, a freelance writer who has written personal essays and reporting pieces for Texas Monthly, Elle.com, DAME, Man Repeller, The Outline, and Lenny Letter.

We all have stories to tell. The longer we live, the truer this becomes.

In Summer Camp for Senior Writers, geared for writers aged 50 and over, you’ll bring your life experiences (past and present) to the page in a supportive writing environment. Through readings and in-class writing exercises, you’ll develop skills to craft your own captivating stories and confidence to share your stories.

We’ll also explore memory, point of view, and insecurities about telling stories that involve other people in our lives. Summer Camp for Senior Writers lasts only four weeks, but every student will have the opportunity to submit their own writing for peer and instructor feedback.

In this generative 4-week workshop you can expect the following in each class:

  • In-class readings and discussion
  • In-class writing exercises
  • Detailed peer and teacher feedback
  • A safe, supportive space to tell your story and grow as a writer

By the end of the course you will have:

  • The tools you need to continue your own writing practice
  • New authors to explore
  • Written pieces for further development or publication
  • And confidence that your story is worth writing.

WRITERS LOVE WORKING WITH JENNIFER:

“Jennifer, I think you taught the class SO well. Every single note or bit of feedback you had was positive and constructive and I think that goes such a long way, especially for those of us who are in the beginning stages of our writing process and don't have the confidence or validation from being published to buoy us. Loved this course!”

“This class allowed me to gain more confidence in my writing style and my voice, and it also showed me how others can write differently and achieve similar end goals, but that doesn't mean I have to mimic someone else's voice."

“Thank you Jennifer!! I’d love to take more workshops with you in the future!”
