Congratulations to workshop alum Craig Thompson! His personal piece "Hired Help" was published by Half and One.
You can read Craig's piece here and learn a bit more about his work below.
Describe your work (influences, interests, etc.) and what you're working on now:
I try to write adult literary fiction, typically set on working farms in New England or horse farms in Virginia. My short fiction mentor Morgan Talty has been a tremendous contemporary influence, though I'm forever looking back to the likes of Jim Harrison, Willa Cather, and Doug Unger.
What are your short term (1 year) and long term writing goals (5 years from now)?
Short term, I'd like to publish more short stories! Long term, I'd like to gather a collection of short stories and find a publisher for them.
What classes did you take at Writing Workshops?
The Short Fiction Mentorship with Morgan Talty.
What did you enjoy most about your class(es) with Writing Workshops? Do you have a favorite memory?
What stands out to me in hindsight is Morgan's combination of astute editorial insight coupled with his truly generous and encouraging support.
