Discover Your Inner Storyteller in the Land of Fire and Ice

If you could design the perfect place to spark creativity in your writing, what would it look like? Maybe you’d choose a land formed by volcanic eruptions and shaped by glaciers—where the landscape itself tells an epic tale of transformation. Perhaps you’d want to follow in the footsteps of ancient storytellers, letting the mist of a thundering waterfall or the otherworldly hush of lava fields stir your imagination. In short, you’d want to go to Iceland.

At Writing Workshops, we believe that sometimes the most profound creative leaps happen outside your comfort zone.

That’s why we’re thrilled to partner with WritingWorkshops.com for Writing Workshops Iceland 2025. Taking place May 31–June 5, 2025, this immersive weeklong workshop is an extraordinary opportunity to hone your craft while experiencing the magical landscapes that inspired Iceland’s legendary sagas.

A Workshop Rooted in Community and Craft

Writing Workshops Iceland 2025 is led by two world-class fiction instructors:

  • Justin Taylor  New York Times Notable novelist, memoirist, and frequent contributor to The New Yorker and The Washington Post Book World.
  • Kelly Luce – Acclaimed fiction writer, Electric Literature editor, and author of the viral short story “Between the Lines.”

Over the course of four intensive workshop days, you’ll get real-world insights into the art and business of writing—from refining your narrative voice to understanding what it takes to navigate publishing. With cohorts limited to just 10 participants per workshop, every voice truly matters. You’ll receive thoughtful critique on two pieces of writing: one shared with the group for in-depth feedback, and another discussed one-on-one with your instructor in a private conference.

Why choose Iceland for a writing workshop? Beyond its mystical landscape and deep literary roots, Iceland is also home to a supportive creative community that celebrates storytelling. Daily craft talks and interactive seminars ensure you walk away not only with stronger fiction skills but also a renewed sense of artistic purpose.
